Born in California in 1965, Shenkar studied Art History at Santa Monica College in California. Throughout his career, the artist has utilized his passion for aesthetics and beauty to dabble in various fields, including high-end furniture design and silversmith work. Over the years, Shenkar has also worked as an upscale interior designer, designing projects for the Hollywood elite.
It is only over the last few years that the desire to evolve as an artist emerged and, once again, Shenkar finds himself in unfamiliar territory — this time as a painter. Pop artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Robert Mars have always influenced the artist’s creations. Growing up in California, Shenkar was also exposed to the Mexican culture and vibrant colours. He began using recycled wood and other materials, forging his own path as a painter. In his own words: “If I lived this life without painting – what a tragic life I would have lived”. Shenkar feels that his art evolves together with him and his journey in life.
