Adriana Naveh

The intensive image in Adriana’s work seems to draw inspiration from the declaration in the Manifesto of Futurism. The flickering fervor and beauty of the city accelerating its wheels represents the spirit of the age and the 21st century. The city is both the backdrop and the focal point, and allows the anonymous figures that move in the painting to become a part of it. The encounter between the horizontal texture and the intense colorfulness, reflects an intricacy of absence and presence. Naveh’s photographing eye, whose object she lays on the canvas, transports us back in history, to a moment in time when the Impressionists took on the depiction of the city as an artistic challenge. The city shimmers, rushes by, and is caught in the moment Adriana experienced it - establishing the artist as one who freezes time, discloses a secret, and hints at the beginning of a story. Naveh was born in 1963 and studied in her hometown of Mendoza. She continued her studies at the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv, and was employed as an assistant in the studio of the artist Calman Shemi.
